In this week, the main event that had occurred for me was the meeting with Tom and Harris about what the final decision would be, as per projector monitoring. During the meeting, it was decided that we would go with my original idea, which was to use the Dell Projector Web Management to have notifications of factors like bulb life/ temperature warning and to use the Ping Test feature on Nagios for checking if the projector is on the network.
Now the issue that was occurring was how to set up email notification with the Dell Projector Web Management using its SMTP setting. It wasn't necessarily a big problem, it was more as in getting the right SMTP email, which Tom managed to get. Once that was set up, that solved 50% of setting up monitoring. The other half was setting up Nagios, and for this I posted on Nagios Forum and managed to get a response by the end of the week. The current problem even after all of this is done, is to check the projectors that aren't Dell and setting them up with similar software that Dell uses in the Web Management for their projectors. I started on setting up Ping Test for Nagios, but I got stuck on the part of setting up a host. Hopefully, I will manage to get some help next week and continue on with steady progress.
