For week 4, the main part was hearing back from Nagios Forum. For the most part the forum was helpful and clarified that there isn't a protocol with Nagios when it came to bulb life. According to the forum, I would look into SNMP for Dell Projectors, specifically 1610HD's. However, the Dell 1610 HD doesn't have SNMP values for bulb life. The reason for this is because the typical projector isn't connected to the network for wireless connectivity. The Dell 1610HD is the newest projector used throughout the campus, and it has an Ethernet port for monitoring, not necessarily for connecting over the network.
I now have to establish a meeting with Tom and Harris about what to do next, so an email was sent out and Harris had concluded with me that Nagios for monitoring bulb life would most likely not be possible. Now to schedule the meeting for the next steps, except Tom was on vacation till June 30th and Harris had called out for the week. So now it would just be wait until they come back to establish the next move.
For the remainder of the week, I had helped out Alanna and Jayd with unpacking a shipment that had come in for Networking, and helped Client Services with Projector mounting. I decided to aid in projector mounting because it was the project I had started on before coming to the Internship, and it also worked hand in hand with projector monitoring because where the mount would be located determined the length of Ethernet cable that would used to wire the projector to the port.
