Week 5: "Surprise! There are boxes waiting in the hallway"

Originally, I had thought this week would be slow: working on tickets as they came in, organizing the final aspects of the staging area, and attempting to coordinate with Harris and the people overseeing the order, trying to get expected arrival dates for the hardware. Well...we know when at least one the shipments is expected to arrive, because at lunch on Monday morning my head supervisor Rob came into the break room and announced that many boxes were currently being wheeled into the office and we should probably take of that. The lunch crew scrambled to bring the boxes to the finished staging area and proceeded to assist me in taking inventory of the shipment. I'd call the entire experience a pleasant surprise that I was ready for and that ultimately resulted in a success.

On another note, Harris finally received word back on the other shipments and we have a loose schedule of what hardware will be coming in when. I can now truly begin to make a schedule for installing the APs and upgrading the distribution switches across campus.

so far the system of labeling and storing the hardware is working nicely, as we were able to move and re-purpose much of the space that was once taken up by empty boxes and operations equipment.

You can see a picture of the staging area below:
