25Live Project

For my project I am working with Jake Holmquist on creating a system where students and can have access to any room on campus in order to create events. This project is done through the use of AutoCAD, a computer aided design program in order to design the floor plan of each room and its fixed objects like bolted furniture, whiteboards, etc. In turn this design will be exported to a format like a jpeg or a pdf in order for anyone to see through the database. This database is known as 25Live. Within 25Live the students and professors can alter the room to their liking in fit for any event. Also, a reservation date will be set and an email will be sent out to notify people of the event that is planned.

During the first weeks of the internship there was a heavy focus on getting the important rooms on campus (i.e The Star Wars Room at RLC, the Charter and Chancellor Room at Memorial) since they tend to usually be the bigger rooms on campus where meetings and events are usually held. Measurements that are noted are brought to scale on AutoCAD. The scale used for this project is for one square grid is equivalent to a foot in real life. Measurements were taken carefully for accuracy and to make sure the person requesting the room gets every detail they need about the room. So far greater than twenty rooms have been measured for this project with some rooms taking longer than usual.
